Others Words for Life

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

By Henri Nouwen

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.

That is what I wish someone had said to me as a child.

It won't always be this way. When you are down you will one day be happy again. Growing up in the thick of it I didn't know the dark days would be followed by sun.

Thanks for posting these quotes!

These are some profound thoughts that are worth pondering. I must confess that sometimes it takes me awhile to associate such depth. Nevethless, you will see that people share their sadness online due to the fact it's often a safe place to get more objective views, on life, in general.
